Rong (Sarah) Zhang

Patent Agent

Sarah Zhang is a patent agent registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office. Her practice focuses on preparing and prosecuting US and international patent applications.

Sarah primarily assists clients in the pharmaceutical, material, biotechnology, and medical device industries. She also has experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications relating to sensors, power generation, and semiconductor processing.

Prior to joining Hoffman Warnick in July 2019, Sarah worked in a Global Patent Organization of a Fortune 500 company, managing worldwide patent prosecution for the internal business clients. She also provided portfolio analysis and IP due diligence support in New Product Introduction (NPI), out-licensing, and new company creation activities. Sarah has prosecuted over 50 US patent applications to grant.

As an inventor herself with over 30 issued patents, Sarah experienced firsthand the impact of patents. She is the inventor of a molecule out-licensed to a startup company set up by a 2013 Nobel Prize winner for clinical development at a top US cancer hospital.
