Matthew M. Morales

Associate

Matthew Morales’ intellectual property practice focuses on securing patents for clients who design, manufacture and sell semiconductors, gas turbines and other energy related products. Matt oversees the entire life cycle of obtaining patents, from inception to completion. He works closely with scientists and inventors to understand their products and ideas so that he may craft a solid patent application that is issued and enforceable over time. Matt advises individual entrepreneurs and regional and national companies of all sizes. Using a collaborative and curious approach, Matt guides inventors and scientists through the complex processes to analyze, protect and secure their intellectual property.

Matt brings a comprehensive understanding of the clients’ industries and knows the leading methods for preparing and prosecuting patent and trademark applications, opinion work, and intellectual property licensing. In addition to the energy industry, Matt’s intellectual property experience spans several technology fields including software systems, integrated circuits, machine learning, biotechnology and medical devices. In addition to domestic services, he works closely with foreign law firms to represent clients’ interest internationally.

Prior to joining Hoffman Warnick, Matt held legal internship positions with the intellectual property counsel at IBM and the Research Foundation for the State University of New York. He also spent time working in the litigation group of an intellectual property law firm. Before becoming a lawyer, Matt worked in a research lab handling plastic recyclables. Matt uses all of these experiences to inform the patents he achieves on behalf of clients.
